A historic masterpiece

Alaa Tower rises on Port Said Street in central Damascus, a short walk from Yusuf al-Azma Square and within reach of the Hamidiyah souk end of the old city. The upper VIP floors were renovated recently in a restrained contemporary style — terrazzo floors, warm cove lighting, upholstered headboards and soft cream tones. Single, twin and triple rooms are available alongside suites that add a separate sitting room with a sofa and a second television. Every room has air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a direct-dial telephone, and there is a restaurant and café on the second floor. A quiet, modern base in the middle of the city at a mid-range price.
